Who are we?

Mission . . . Muslims 4 the Environment “ME”, is a non-profit organization. Our primary aim and purpose is to advocate benignity toward the environment by educating, modifying and improving those detrimental behaviors that we can control and influence with our own hands to reduce those negative outputs that harm the environment at an unprecedented scale. We call upon humanity’s better side to be an exemplary guest of our gracious Creator in our temporary home . . . the earth.

Our initials “ME” iterate that accountability starts with me . . . the individual.  The number 4 rather than the conjunction “for” is to emphasize that we are for the environment in all four corners of the world.  Our short name M4THEE is a pledge that Muslims shall stand with you for the environment.

Why do we care about the environment?

The preservation of the environment is in essence an Islamic obligation and tradition. ME is driven to rally Muslims at home and abroad to revive the environmental segment of the “sunnah”, which is the tradition of the Prophet (MPBH). Together, we want to advocate for holistic energy conservation measures and eco-friendly practices and policies in our religious institutions, local communities and at the county, state and federal levels.

Who can join us?

Any citizen of the world is welcome.  While the aim is to start our reach within the Muslim community, we also partner with non-Muslims, nature conservationists, environmentalists, eco-friendly advocates, government and non government organizations (NGOs) to champion global environmental causes.  These causes are massive challenges that aren’t entirely divorced of political and socio-economic deficiencies.  On the contrary, they are often intertwined in very subtle ways.

Is M4THEE a religious institution?

M4THEE is a “green” organization that advocates for the environment with Islamic teaching and principles. It provides the space for Muslims and non-Muslims who care for the environment to come together under one common thread and advocate for the earth. ME partners with Islamic institutions and their respective local communities to increase awareness about the environment and adopt environmentally friendly habits. The organization encourages every citizen of the world in every corner of the globe to be environmentally conscious. We believe that Islam is in complete and absolute harmony with the environment.

What we do?

With a reach and teach philosophy, we educate with the intention to create consciousness with a capacity for empowerment and self ownership. This claim for responsibility is key in compelling and mobilizing the citizen of the world into positive and meaningful action. ME partners with local and global institutions to model a “green” approach at the local and grass root levels within Muslim communities in the United States, North America and around the world.

Where do we work?

The 4 in our name Muslims 4 the Environment implies that we want to have a presence in all four corners of the world. As the Hadith tells us, start with yourself and then your next of kin. We partner with local communities, but we have every intention to take the environment fight around the world.
